Make new friends

............then CFUW Kelowna is the Club for you.

We meet on the third Monday of the month at 7:00 pm, at the Senior Center, 1353 Richter Street, Kelowna.

We do encourage you to carpool, to save greenhouse gases and to spend more time with friends.

We are a member of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW), which has 10,000 members in 122 clubs across Canada. CFUW is a member of the International Federation of University Women (IFUW), which includes 150,000 women in 78 national federations and associations.

What is CFUW?

CFUW is a voluntary, non-partisan, non-profit, self-funded, bilingual organization of 10,000 women university graduates in Clubs across Canada.  CFUW members are active in public affairs, working to raise the social, economic and legal status of women, as well as improve education, the environment, peace and human rights.

CFUW Kelowna members are active in their community.

CONGRATULATIONS

The "CFUW Crafty Ladies" were officially thanked at a luncheon on 26 June, with the "Meals on Wheels" volunteers.  The invitation was based on
the fact that they made and donated 130 Christmas crackers and Easter baskets which were included with the delivered meals.

Member of Parliament, Ron Canaan, is on the left and Kelowna City Councillor, Norm Letnick, is on the right.

As of 2008, 78 volunteer groups have adopted 167.85 km of roads and picked up 470 bags of litter.  The Federation of University Women Kelowna has been at this job for over 8 years, making their contribution to the community.  The Federation cleans Weddell Place and Poplar Point twice a year.

This group really cares about equality for women, human rights, the environment, and social justice - and

does something about it!"
